Residing in Sacramento, California at the #lakeviewartcomplex
Born in Berkeley, California : 1977
I create work that explores both the common ground and outliers in the relationship between the analog and digital worlds. I wrestle and pollinate the archive. Chasing collapse one click at a time. Discovery of the human in artificial and vice-versa is a compelling driver.
I find inspiration in human interest stories, modern art and architecture, network hackers, bioengineering, energy extraction, things we are losing or have lost and foolish, reckless love.
Recent graduate from the Art Practice – New Genres MFA program at Stanford University where I utilized archival research, live storytelling / performance as component to digitally oriented art projects. Attempts to conjure aura of physical artifacts to coax digital manifestations with same. Finding moving forward towards an end is not ultimately allowed — what is seen is almost always out of reach. How can digital practice help stitch the gap between the spaces we inhabit in dialogue with the many times other people have experienced the same space in different moments and memories?
Of special interest is researching architecturally notable homes that have been demolished, or are “missing”. In particular, the output of Central Valley regional architects, focusing on the mid-to late 1950’s work of Carter Sparks AIA
